Your CVS veterinary team...
Sally
White BA VetMB Bsc MPhil MRCVS
Prior to going to Cambridge University Vet School I worked
for many years in pharmaceutical research as a biochemist
and pharmacokineticist, so I have a very good knowledge of
how drugs behave and can predict how they will work in the
patient. I was extremely lucky to then go back to University
for a second stint in order to become a vet as my second chosen
career.
Having been a specialist in the pharmaceutical
business I have kept strictly to general practice as a vet,
so I get to know the patients and clients very well which
I enjoy. However my areas of special interest are anaesthesia,
dentistry, dermatology and internal medicine. That does not
mean I don't also get great satisfaction operating. So you
would be right in thinking I enjoy mosts aspects of veterinary
life here.
CVS Nurses
CVS veterinary nurses
are trained to provide nursing support for the practice in
surgery and aftercare. The CVS nurses are qualified or under
supervision as part of the British Veterinary Nursing Association
(BVNA).
They also run a number
of free complementary clinics on pet health, including weight
watchers, dietary advice, geriatric care and puppy socialisation
classes.
| Our Head Nurse Leanne Lane |
|
Leanne
is our head nurse and has now been with the practice
since 1998.
Leanne is also qualified in pet nutrition and has also
been trained to advise on parasite control and behavioural
problems. She is also currently working for a further
qualification in pet behaviour. And she is kept busy
with her dogs. Tammy a young border terrier who is a
bit of a wimp when it's wet!
Leanne
has also taken on a young stray terrier, Izzy, brought
into the surgery. Izzy stayed with us at Christmas when
the council kennels were full and the rest is history.
Leanne has just completed a grooming
course at Hadlow
College, and is available for all your dog's grooming
needs.

on a pre-nurse training course and once she has passed
that she will be eligible for the veterinary nurse course

We have also extended our pet sitting to include Stephanie,
demand this year has been greater than ever.

We have all suffered the problem of persuading
one of our pets to take a pill, or even face the grooming
comb! Another service we offer is Nurse home visits, which
can be useful in helping with such challenges! If this service
could be of use to you then please mention it and we can discuss
how best we can help and make the necessary arrangements.
Our nurses are able to offer free appointments
to provide the following:-
- Sexing animals
- Flea and worm advice
- Nail clips
- Dietary Advice
- Dental check-ups
- Weight check-ups
- Advice on what type of animal would suit your family
and their dietary and other health needs.
Nurses appointments are free, you only pay for those
products used.
Did You Know
We try to offer the highest quality service but if there
are areas you feel are neglected then we would like to hear
from you. Below you will find some information showing how
we match up to human healthcare.
Some interesting facts about our practice:-
- We use the same anaesthetics as are used in humans.
- Our staff are highly trained and dedicated.
- Veterinary drugs cost MORE than the equivalent human drug.
- We are governed by the same Health & Safety Laws as
BUPA & the NHS.
- Our biggest patient is 5000 times bigger than our smallest!
(0.02kg to 100kg)
- We deal with many different species - and none of them
can talk!
All of this - and we charge a fraction
of the NHS cost for the same service.

Some useful tips to help you get the most
from CVS:-
- Your vet, or any other practice staff, are not yet very
good at mind reading! So ....
- Do tell the vet at the start of the consultation what
really concerns you and what you would like the vet
to do.
- Do give us as much information as you can no matter
how small or irrelevant it may seem to you.
- Do ask questions in the consulting room, and ask again
if you are unsure or need more information.
- If you are unhappy with anything about the practice do
let us know right away. Most misunderstandings can be sorted
out quickly. If there is something more seriously wrong
we want to know right away so we can put it right.
