Baby rabbits usually leave their mother between 7-12
weeks of age.
If you intend that your rabbit should be a house rabbit
start litter training immediately.
Place paper or training pads down for the rabbit to use.
Do not chastise it if it has an accident, but reward all
successful visits to the tray. Many rabbits are house
trained in only a few weeks, if it is not going well please
call for advice. For appointment details click

Rabbits
do best on grass and hay. They need large amounts of fibre
which grass and hay provide. Concentrated foods encourage
obesity and dental problems and should only form upto
3% of a rabbits diet. This is a very complex subject so
please call in or request an emailed fact sheet on diet.
More rabbits die prematurely of dental disease, mostly
through inadequate fibre, than any other problem.

All
rabbits should be vaccinated every six months against
myxomatosis. We start vaccinations at 8 weeks of age.
This disease can be fatal.
Many people think that their rabbit is not at risk particuarlly
if it is a house rabbit. This is not the case, all rabbits
are at risk, it is thought to be spread by biting flies.
If in doubt please contact us, we want the very best health
for your companion, and vaccinations are vital. Every
year rabbits are put to sleep with myxomatosis, there
is no effective treatment. Vaccination is vital. For

If you're thinking its unsafe or unnecessary to vaccinate
please talk to us, we only want the best for your rabbit's
long term health, as you do!

Rabbits
can be neutered from 12 weeks of age. The benefits are
not just unwanted bunnies.
Neutering decreases the incidence of some types of cancer
and some infections. It also decreases aggression. Some
behavioural issues may also be improved by neutering,
but will be more successful if the rabbit is neutered
as early as possible.
We will carry out a free health check before neutering
your rabbit For appointment details click
